Media Release: WR Nonviolence Day In The Park 2017
Waterloo Region Nonviolence invites everyone to the annual Day in the Park Celebration
June 12, 2017. Waterloo ON.
Join Waterloo Region Nonviolence on Sunday, July 9, 2017 from 12pm-5pm on Victoria Park Island for the family friendly “Day in the Park” celebration!
Visitors can visit community group displays to learn about positive things happening in the Kitchener Waterloo community. There will also be local artists and vendors, live music, vegetarian friendly food options provided by Food not Bombs and KW Animal Save, and a children’s activities area.
It’s a great way to engage with the community and spend a wonderful Sunday afternoon in the park. We love getting together to highlight the great work groups are doing in our community, connect with each other, and build community centered around nonviolent principles.
The Day in the Park has been celebrating diversity, peace, and social justice since 2005, making this year’s festival the 13th annual Day in the Park celebration. In a world where we struggle against violence and fear, Waterloo Region Nonviolence focuses on positive ways we can engage with those around us, working for peace and positive relationships. We define Nonviolence as treating others the way you wish to be treated
and when we apply that principle to our relationships at home, workplace and the world, we build the kind of world in which we want to live.
The Day in the Park is one of multiple events that WR Nonviolence hosts throughout the year, inspired by Nonviolence principles. Visit us at https://wrnonviolence.org. You can also find us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/wrnonviolence
